About psychotherapy and psychoanalysis
Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis allow for an in depth look at recurring dysfunctional patterns that hinder relationships, professional success and contentment in life. Once self-understanding is gained and feelings flow more comfortably, the natural creativity, satisfaction with oneself, happiness and connectedness to others occur effortlessly.
We work with individuals and couples who are are encountering new or familiar difficulties in important areas of life. This may include intimate relationships, the work environment and struggles that are felt internally. We work with adults of all ages and teens from ninth grade on up. We also specialize in working with professionals who are looking for more self-discovery in a confidential, intelligent and ethical environment. Most business and health professionals need periodic collaboration to enhance effectiveness with subordinates, staff, patients and clients. Both Dr. Deborah and Dr. Stuart Kirschbaum are licensed psychologists and Dr. Deborah Kirschbaum, has a doctorate in psychoanalysis and is a certified psychoanalyst.
What to expect when you come to the office for your first session:
Your experience begins in the waiting room which is private. There is a light panel which you will switch on for either Dr. Kirschbaum to know you've arrived. At your appointment time, Dr. Kirschbaum will usher you into his or her office. During this session you are encouraged to share what's bringing you into therapy. Part of the first session is for each of us to get to know one another and for you to begin to get a feel for what therapy will be like. We will also discuss practical issues of appointment times and payment.
